Communicable Medical Conditions

What is a Communicable Medical Condition?

This is a condition that can be passed from child to child. This includes medical issues such as Chicken Pox, Head Lice, Whooping Cough, Measles etc.

St Brigid's will notify all families should an outbreak of a Communicable Condition occur in your child's classroom.

Below you will find information on how to treat and how these conditions are transmitted from child to child.

Should your child show symptoms of any Communicable Condition please notify your class teacher and also our Lead Medical Co coordinator Mrs Andrea Mackereth via phone 85222099 or via email amackereth@stbrigids.catholic.edu.au.

Head Lice

Head lice in schools is unavoidable. However certain measures can be taken to ensure the transmission from one child to the next is kept to a minimum, these include:

  • Not sharing hats.
  • Tying hair up and keeping it taught.
